Irish Whiskey: The Journey from Grain to Glass

17th January 2017

Want to discover the Science behind Whiskey making?

Join Dave Quinn, the Master of Whiskey Science at Midleton Distillery, for a journey through the time-honoured tradition of Irish whiskey production. In this fascinating session, Dave will reveal how raw materials, fermentation, distillation and maturation contribute to the intricate flavours of whiskey.

You will get the opportunity to sample various whiskeys and see if you can identify how the combination of barley, malt and water impacts the texture and how different wood casks can affect the taste.

It takes years to make a great whiskey and whether you are a whiskey enthusiast or passionate about science, you’ll be amazed at the scientific process that takes this spirit from grain to glass.

The event takes place at Baltic in Bullitt Hotel on Thursday 16th February 2017.

Tickets are £30 per person and available from NI Science Festival.
