With over 10 years’ experience in the drinks trade, Joe Magowan oversees Irish Whiskey development and education at drinks company, Dillon Bass, who promote and sell the Midleton family of whiskeys in Northern Ireland, including Powers, Redbreast, Jameson, Method and Madness and the Spots range.

Joe works closely with bars and retailers in Northern Ireland, offering training and tasting experiences that help to tell the Irish whiskey story.

He lives and breathes Irish whiskey. Over the years, Joe has tasted every variety you can think of. He loves nothing more than sharing his whiskey wisdom.

  • Nose

    Juicy green apples and a little bit of pear. Fresh mint and a touch of aniseed. A tiny bit herbaceous.

  • Taste

    Big wave of granny smith apples which leads to boiled sweets – pear drops.  A touch grassy. Some spicy notes (black pepper).

  • Finish

    Green notes lead to delicate American oak. Some vanillia and honey but very delicate. Almost oily in texture.
